Couesnon Luthier Early 20th Century

$20,000-$50,000
CE3861
A fine French cello from the Violin making town of Mirecourt France from circa 1900. Made in the Couesnon firm, which was started by Luthier Amédée Couesnon, who led Gautrot starting in 1887 and eventually gave the company its new name. The luthiers of this firm were trained and worked in other Famous Mirecourt workshops such as Jerome Thibouville Lamy, Leon Bernardel, and Laberte-Humbert. This cello features wood from the Vosges region, which gives it the unique warm yet powerful tone typical of fine French instruments.
