Marcus Talley, Violin


Marcus Talley

Mr. Talley has an array of teaching experience, having held teaching positions at Interlochen Arts Camp, Seminar Music Camp, and the Suzuki Institute of Seattle. He spent two years as teaching assistant to Renata Knific at Western Michigan University teaching at the college level. Marcus enjoys working with a wide range of students from advanced violinists to those requiring a stronger technical foundation.

Since completing his DMA in 2006, Marcus has become an active part of music education in the area. He is the director of the Eastside of the chamber music program for the Seattle Conservatory of Music and also coaches chamber music for the Westside program. Marcus is a violin coach/coach coordinator for the Everett Youth Symphony Orchestras and works with string programs in the Northshore school district, Immaculate Conception Regional School and LaConner. He maintains private studios in LaConner, Kenmore and Issaquah and performs with the Bellevue Philharmonic.

Mr. Talley holds a Doctorate of Musical Arts (DMA) in violin performance from Michigan State University, a Masters (MM) in violin performance from Western Michigan University and a Bachelors (BM) in violin performance from Western Washington University. His principal teachers include Charles Avsharian, Renata Knific, Walter Schwede, and Celia Weiss-Nicks.
