Instructor BiographiesJanet Neumann, Cello
Janet Neumann teaches cello in Issaquah and Mercer Island, Washington. She has a Bachelors and a Masters degree in Cello Performance from the University of Southern California. Locally, she has played in the Pacific Northwest Ballet Orchestra, Bellevue Philharmonic, and the Salieri String Quartet. She also lived in Caracas, Venezuela where she taught at the National Conservatory and played professionally. During the school year, Janet's cello program includes a weekly private lesson, and a supplemental group class or recital once a month. There are 2 solo recitals and a group concert each school year. Suzuki and traditional styles of teaching are used depending on the age and level of incoming students. In addition to teaching, Janet has been involved in many community activities. She was the Secretary of the Suzuki Association of Washington State for 4 years. She was a Big Sister for 11 years, and this year is participating in the Seattle Music Partners, a program that combines mentoring with music instruction in several underserved Seattle Public Schools. "Music lessons help build discipline, memory skills, and artistry in a student. It is a privilege for me to help your child gain those skills and have a lifelong love of music."
