Dave Dolengewicz, Saxophone, Clarinet and Flute

Dave Dolengewicz, Saxophonist

Hailing from California’s beautiful central coast, David is an energetic and creative young saxophonist and composer. At age 10 Dave, inspired by one of his heros, Lisa Simpson, decided he wanted to play saxophone. His mother took him to a woodwind teacher and upon expressing his desires to her, she said "Great, here's a clarinet."

Dave started playing the clarinet at age 10 and picked up the saxophone and flute shortly after. While in high school, Dave played saxophone in the Hancock College and the Cuesta College Jazz Ensembles. He also participated in the California All-State Honor Band. During this time he played with the San Luis Obispo Youth Symphony and was the featured clarinet soloist on Rhapsody in Blue during their European Tour.

Dave attended the University of North Texas where he learned a bunch of stuff about music! He graduated with his degree in Jazz arranging. While there he studied saxophone and played in a myriad of ensembles ranging from jazz big bands, to church services and a Tower of Power cover band.

Dave has learned from many, but formally his instructors include Patricia Lynn, David Becker, Alice McGonigal, Virginia Wright, Tom Luer, Garry Evans, Jim Riggs, Eric Nestler, and Mark Taylor.

Currently Dave resides in the Seattle where he is actively involved in a wide variety of projects including composing and performing with the Jazz Police big band and his own Dave Dolengewicz Trio.
