Instructor BiographiesQuyen Nguyen, Viola
Quyen Nguyen is a musician who brings a wealth of performing experience into her teaching studio. She has concertized all over Europe and the United States as an orchestral player, chamber musician and soloist. She has won numerous awards in local, state, and national competitions, and she has had the honor of representing the US in international competitions. As a chamber musician, she has studied with the Alexander Quartet, Jupiter Trio and members of the Berlin Philharmonic. She has taken posts as principal violist with nearly every orchestra she has worked with and has appeared as a soloist with orchestra several times. As a teacher, Ms. Nguyen is a dynamic instructor who is highly involved in music education circles. "My method of teaching is a unique combination of the Suzuki Method, Alexander Technique, educational theories, and developmental psychology. My goal in teaching music is not only to produce competent musicians but also competent human beings. Using different disciplines allows me to focus on life skills such as efficient time management, project planning, constructive self-criticism, good decision making and healthy self-analysis." Currently, she serves as Music Producer for 500 Fingers Productions, plays viola with the Poway Symphony, guest lectures at California State University - Northridge, and maintains a full private teaching studio. She takes great pride in teaching music and looks forward to bringing the joy of music into the lives of her students.
