Teacher Biographies

Elly Schmidt, Violin

Elly is a founding teacher of the San Diego Suzuki School of Music where she teaches students of all levels from ages 4 to adult.

With over 25 years of solo, chamber and orchestral experience, Elly is an accomplished musician and educator. She's studied under many renowned musicians, is a certified Suzuki teacher, and has a B.M. in Violin Performance. She has performed in Europe and throughout Southern California with a variety of orchestras, chamber ensembles and guest performers including Mark O'Connor, Mannheim Steamroller, Zubin Mehta, Midori, and Randy Newman. She has also been Orchestra Director at Oak Park Music Conservatory, Beginning Strings Director at the Kadima Conservatory, and a clinician for southern Californian youth orchestras and Suzuki camps.

In addition to teaching, Elly serves on the board of the Suzuki Music Association of California, San Diego Branch and continues to perform as a freelance artist throughout San Diego.
